The Anthromica Library
The human body one structure at a time. Every page has a 3D model you can turn, with its parts numbered on it, where it sits, what it does and what supplies it.

- Axillary nerveNervus axillarisA branch of the posterior cord that winds round the humerus at its surgical neck to supply deltoid, teres minor and the skin over the shoulder.
- Axillary veinVena axillarisThe large deep vein of the armpit, running from the lower edge of teres major to the outer border of the first rib.
- Axis (C2)The axis is the second cervical vertebra, recognised by the tooth-like dens that rises from its body and acts as a pivot for the atlas.
- Azygos veinVena azygaAn unpaired vein climbing beside the thoracic spine on the right that drains the back of the chest wall into the superior vena cava.
- Base of peduncleBasis pedunculiThe front part of each cerebral peduncle of the midbrain, a thick band of descending fibres from the cerebral cortex.
- Basilar arteryArteria basilarisThe single midline artery formed by the two vertebral arteries, running up the front of the pons to supply the brainstem and back of the brain.
- Basilar venous plexusPlexus venosus basilarisA mesh of venous channels within the dura on the clivus, linking the two inferior petrosal sinuses and the cavernous sinuses.
- Basilic veinVena basilicaA large superficial vein climbing the ulnar side of the forearm and medial arm before passing deep to form the axillary vein.
- Bifurcation of pulmonary trunkBifurcatio trunci pulmonalisThe point beneath the aortic arch where the pulmonary trunk splits into the right and left pulmonary arteries.
- Bile ductDuctus biliarisThe duct carrying bile from the junction of the hepatic and cystic ducts down to the descending duodenum.
- Biventral lobuleLobulus biventerA lobule on the underside of each cerebellar hemisphere, lying lateral to the tonsil and divided into two bellies.
- Body of sternumCorpus sterniThe long middle section of the breastbone, between the manubrium and the xiphoid process, carrying the cartilages of the second to seventh ribs.
- Brachial arteryArteria brachialisThe main artery of the upper arm, continuing from the axillary artery and splitting at the elbow into the two main forearm arteries.
- Brachial nodesNodi brachialesSmall deep lymph nodes scattered along the brachial artery and veins in the arm, between the elbow and the armpit.
- Brachial veinsVenae brachialesA pair of deep veins that run on either side of the brachial artery through the arm, from the elbow to teres major.
- Brachialis muscleMusculus brachialisBrachialis is a broad muscle on the front of the lower arm, lying under the biceps and acting as the main flexor of the elbow.
- Brachiocephalic nodesNodi brachiocephaliciAnterior mediastinal lymph nodes lying over the arch of the aorta and its large branches, along the brachiocephalic veins in the upper chest.
- Brachiocephalic trunkTruncus brachiocephalicusThe first and largest branch of the aortic arch, rising behind the sternum to divide into the right subclavian and right common carotid arteries.
- Brachioradialis muscleMusculus brachioradialisBrachioradialis is the long, superficial muscle on the thumb side of the forearm, a flexor of the elbow supplied by the radial nerve.
- Branch to angular gyrusArteria gyri angularisA cortical branch of the middle cerebral artery that leaves the back of the lateral sulcus to supply the angular gyrus of the parietal lobe.
- Buccal arteryArteria buccalisA small branch of the maxillary artery that runs forwards on the buccinator to supply the cheek.
- Buccal nerveNervus buccalisA sensory branch of the mandibular nerve that crosses the infratemporal fossa to supply the skin and lining of the cheek.
- BucinatorThe buccinator is the thin, flat cheek muscle filling the gap between the jaws and forming the side wall of the mouth.
- Bucinator nodeNodus bucinatoriusA small, inconstant facial lymph node lying on the buccinator muscle in the cheek, level with the corner of the mouth.
