The Anthromica Library
The human body one structure at a time. Every page has a 3D model you can turn, with its parts numbered on it, where it sits, what it does and what supplies it.

- Paracentral sulcusSulcus paracentralisA short groove on the medial surface of the cerebral hemisphere that marks the front edge of the paracentral lobule.
- Parieto-occipital sulcusSulcus parietooccipitalisA deep cleft, mostly on the inner face of the hemisphere, that separates the parietal lobe from the occipital lobe.
- Peduncle of flocculusPedunculus flocculiThe thin stalk of white matter joining the flocculus on each side of the cerebellum to the nodule of the vermis.
- PonsThe middle part of the brainstem, a broad bulge lying below the midbrain and above the medulla, with the cerebellum behind it.
- Postcentral gyrusGyrus postcentralisThe convolution of the parietal lobe just behind the central sulcus, holding the primary somatosensory cortex for touch and body position.
- Postcentral sulcusSulcus postcentralisThe groove on the parietal lobe that runs behind and parallel to the central sulcus, forming the back edge of the postcentral gyrus.
- Posterior cochlear nucleusNucleus cochlearis posteriorThe layered auditory nucleus on the back and side of the inferior cerebellar peduncle where the pons and medulla meet.
- Posterior commissureCommissura posteriorA rounded band of crossing white fibres at the back of the third ventricle, just above the entrance to the cerebral aqueduct.
- Posterior horn of spinal cordCornu posterius medullae spinalisThe rear, sensory projection of grey matter on each side of the spinal cord, where fibres from the dorsal roots arrive and relay.
- Posterior quadrangular lobuleLobulus quadrangularis posteriorA lobule on the upper surface of each cerebellar hemisphere, lying just behind the primary fissure at the front of the posterior lobe.
- Posterior spinocerebellar tractTractus spinocerebellaris posteriorAn uncrossed ascending pathway at the back of the lateral funiculus that carries muscle and joint information from the trunk and lower limb to the cerebellum.
- Posterior transverse collateral sulcusA short, variable groove on the inferior surface of the occipital lobe, crossing the territory near the back end of the collateral sulcus.
- Precentral gyrusGyrus precentralisThe convolution at the back of the frontal lobe, in front of the central sulcus, that holds the primary motor cortex.
- PrecuneusThe square-shaped area of parietal cortex on the inner surface of each hemisphere, just in front of the occipital cuneus.
- PutamenThe large rounded outer nucleus of the basal ganglia, lying deep in each cerebral hemisphere between the external and internal capsules.
- Pyramid of medulla oblongataPyramis medullae oblongataeA paired ridge on the front of the medulla oblongata, carrying the descending corticospinal and corticobulbar fibres beside the midline.
- Pyramis of vermisPyramis vermisA part of the inferior vermis of the cerebellum, between the tuber above and the uvula below, flanked by the biventral lobules.
- Red nucleusNucleus ruberAn oval, pinkish nucleus in the tegmentum of the upper midbrain, a relay between cerebellum, motor cortex and spinal cord.
- Septal nucleiNuclei septalesA group of grey matter nuclei in the septal area below the front of the corpus callosum, linked to the hippocampus, hypothalamus and habenula.
- Septum pellucidumA thin, vertical, two-layered partition in the brain's midline that separates the front horns of the two lateral ventricles.
- Straight gyrus (Gyrus rectus)The narrow, straight convolution along the medial edge of the underside of the frontal lobe, beside the longitudinal fissure.
- Stria medullaris thalamiA slender band of white fibres along the upper medial edge of the thalamus, running back to the habenula in the epithalamus.
- Stria terminalisA curved band of fibres running from the amygdala along the floor of the lateral ventricle, in the groove between the caudate nucleus and thalamus.
- Subparietal sulcusSulcus subparietalisA groove on the inner face of each hemisphere above the splenium, separating the precuneus from the posterior cingulate gyrus.
